Atelier Sedap, staff manufacturer since 1968

Atelier Sedap (Société Européenne de Diffusion et d’Application du Plâtre) has benefited from unique expertise in plaster casting for over fifty years. Our workshop is dedicated to creating high-quality pieces, using meticulous plasterwork and tried-and-tested craft techniques.

1968 – The genesis of l’Atelier

Atelier Sedap was founded in 1968 by Charles Bohu. At the time, Sedap was a family-run manufacturer of decorative staff elements, with a production plant in La Planche, near Nantes.

1982 – Gypsum and Light

In the 1980s, the company took a new direction. Benoît Bohu, son of the founder, joins the adventure and develops an innovative concept: combining staff with light to offer a new type of lighting solution.

2014 – Atelier Sedap, Living Heritage Company

Atelier Sedap is dedicated to transmitting and promoting the traditional techniques of staff and ornamentation. This work was recognized in 2014 with the award of the prestigious EPV label, Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant.

55 years of expertise

It’s in Loire-Atlantique that plaster extracted from Parisian quarries has acquired a prestigious reputation, thanks to the family business founded in 1968 by Charles Bohu. A few years later, his son Benoît had the idea of combining the art of staff work with the technicality of lighting to offer innovative lighting solutions.

As a result, Atelier Sedap quickly made a name for itself with its innovative approach, showcasing exceptional lighting effects and creating unique interior objects. Our company has developed successfully in France and abroad, thanks to the unrivalled quality of our products and the expertise of our team of passionate professionals.

Atelier Sedap continues to explore the infinite possibilities offered by plaster, that noble and versatile material. Thanks to their creativity and expertise, our staff-ornamentalists have been able to develop the various uses of decorative staff, while expanding its applications in interior architecture. Our workshop’s unique expertise enables us to highlight the aesthetic and technical characteristics of plaster, while proposing innovative solutions to meet our customers’ needs.
